How long does a compensation study take?

By NovaPath · Published

Separate the time to prepare your data, the time to produce a draft, and the time to finalize it. A short analysis window is useful only when everyone agrees on what starts the clock and what the draft includes.

NovaPath’s scoped draft timeline

NovaPath’s published offer is a draft within five business days after scope is agreed and complete data is confirmed. The final report follows consolidated feedback on a separately agreed schedule. Confirm eligibility and timing for your engagement before relying on a deadline.

This is a draft delivery window, not a promise that intake, data collection, and final approval will all happen within five days.

What starts the clock?

  1. Agree on scope. Identify the positions, locations, comparison approach, benefits coverage, and deliverables.
  2. Confirm complete information. Resolve gaps in job descriptions, pay units, work schedules, and benefits information.
  3. Set the draft date. Confirm the start date and delivery date together.
  4. Plan the review. Name one person to consolidate feedback and agree on a finalization schedule.

Prepare a usable data packet

  • Role list and current job descriptions, including required qualifications and supervisory duties.
  • Pay ranges or the agreed compensation data, with hourly or annual units clearly identified.
  • Hours per week and months or weeks worked each year.
  • Benefits summaries and employer contribution information needed for the agreed analysis.
  • Locations, proposed comparison employers, and any required deliverable format.
  • A decision owner, reviewers, and the date the findings are needed.

Ask NovaPath to confirm the appropriate transfer method and required fields before sending employee-level information.

What can change the delivery date?

New positions, unclear duties, inconsistent pay units, missing benefits costs, or changes to the comparison group can require additional work. Resolve these at intake where possible. If scope changes after analysis starts, agree on the schedule impact before continuing.

When comparing providers, ask each one to state its timeline trigger, draft contents, feedback process, and final report date. Compare those commitments together.
